The comfort of God's sovereignty

We come to serious places of transition in life that can be confusing, stressful, and even painful. Most changes contain at least one or two of the three. God's sovereignty is the great comfort for these problems and its a terrible shame that many Christians try to argue against the greatest comfort they have available! Knowing that God is in control of our times of suffering and pain is the greatest comfort to one who rejoices in the glory of God. Key phrase: "rejoices in the glory of God".

If our hearts are pleased with God being honored and glorified then we can trust God will give us what makes us rejoice. The strange creatures God has made us to be in Christ find greatest joy in Christ's magnification. With that mind set we can rest and be comforted in pain. When pain comes we can KNOW that God promises it for our good. That pain is not controlled by one who is trying to destroy us but from One who seeks our greatest joy which can only be found in seeing and tasting of His majesty! This is no petty, pathetic prosperity gospel. This is not God promising to give us more expensive idols to replace the ones we lost. This is the King of the universe lovingly turning the eyes of His people onto the greatest treasure, joy, and pleasure in existence; Himself! In every painful experience we can know that it comes from the hand of a loving God who is sanctifying us so we can enjoy His glory more!

Romans 8:28  -And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
